She has released multiple recording projects and collaborations and lately has been spending her time writing and recording worship songs for the Church. She loves nature, good conversation, and discovering what it means to become a fully alive human who knows her God. Phill Martin will lead two sessions on "Building a Strength Culture in Your Team."
Prior to church work, Carter owned and operated a commercial general contracting firm, and formerly held both HVAC and plumbing licenses. He is a regular presenter at both religious and secular facilities related events, has published or contributed to several articles in professional magazines, and serves as a consultant, advisor, or mentor to other churches and peers. He is the past vice-president of the International Facility Managers Association (IFMA) Houston Chapter, where he also served as chairman of the Sustainability and Professional Development Committees and on the Religious Facilities Council. He previously served as the religious facilities liaison for the City of Houston Green Office Challenge. He has been recognized by his peers several times for his professional achievements, most notably for sustainability and utility management. He recently resigned as vice-chairman of the Church CO+OP Board of Directors so he could assume the leadership role for the NACFM Houston chapter. He is the first recipient of the “Carter Bliss Award”, bestowed by the Church CO+OP for “dedication, resourcefulness, and service”. Carter is an honorary alumnus of the University of Houston Hilton College, where he has served as a student mentor, curriculum advisor, and benefactor of three scholarships. He is married to his best friend of more than 35 years. His wife is a former college professor, and currently works in a private Catholic school. Together they serve as marriage educators. Carter holds his service to God as paramount, and believes it is better to “wear out” rather than “rust out”.
