Inspiring Words From Your NACFM Leadership...

Tory Korthuis
For Christians around the world, Christmas is a time of profound significance. It marks the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, who came into this world to offer the ultimate gift of salvation. We are reminded of our Lord's humble beginnings in the Nativity story, born in a lowly stable surrounded by Mary and Joseph, shepherds, and angels. Amid the hustle and bustle of the holiday season we are called to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas – the love of God made manifest in human form. Just as the star guided the Wise Men to Bethlehem, may this season guide our hearts towards a deeper understanding of the grace and love that Jesus brings into our lives.

Scott Hammond
Each Christmas Season you will see Christmas cards saying, “Wise men still seek Him.” Do we truly have what it takes to endure the challenge of a two-year walk through the desert by faith to seek the One who offers us freedom, hope, forgiveness, and everlasting life? He makes it so easy now compared to what the believers in Jesus' time had to withstand. The constant persecution, torment, suffering and almost impossible living conditions should make us all feel a huge burden lifted so that we may truly focus our eyes on the King and offer Him gifts of gratitude. This season reminds me of four truths:

1. Our God is for everyone, and we can share that good news to all we encounter this Christmas season.

2. He is worthy of our worship! Don’t get so caught up in the season of gift giving and forget the “gift of life” that we as believers have been blessed with. Remember, He is worthy of our praise and like the Wise Men, we too can “fall down and worship Him.”

3. He deserves our very best. The Wise Men brought the very best gifts to worship Him. All that we have is due to His provision and care for us. How can we offer anything less to Him?

4. He is speaking to us. Listen carefully during this joyous season.

Lara Wood
Christmas is the most wonderful, frustrating, sad, joyful, busy, and blessed time of the year! I can get so caught up in all the minutia, both personally and in ministry, that remembering the reason for the season can take back seat and before I know it, it's all over and I wonder where the time has gone. The word God gave me for this year is intentional, so as I write this, I’m considering what that means for the rest of the year. Here is my challenge, for myself personally and for each of you: BE INTENTIONAL about spending time with God and thanking him for sending Jesus, the reason for the season. BE INTENTIONAL about spending time and creating new memories with family, as stuff is temporary, and tomorrow is not promised. BE INTENTIONAL, about spending time with those who don’t believe in Jesus or celebrate differently than you do, as we are called to love one another. BE INTENTIONAL about how you spend your time and energy this Christmas season and, you will be blessed! Luke 2:14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom He is pleased!”

When I was in high school, I got a clear Swatch watch for Christmas (I’m really dating myself here). I loved the watch because I could see everything it took for the hands to move and keep time. I have always wanted to take an old grandfather clock apart, but I’m pretty sure I wouldn't get it back together again. I may get all the parts back in, but it likely won't run the same way. I am blessed to work with a great team at Fellowship. Our AA, Nancy, could retire, but she loves what she does. She is wise enough to know when things may go sideways and experienced enough to push back when I throw out a half-brained idea. I appreciate her. We would make mistakes if we had someone who was uncomfortable pushing back. Our maintenance engineer, David, has worked here for over 15 years. His dad was the maintenance guy when I started here, and he retired during COVID. It was a natural fit for David to move into that role. As many of you know, the dynamics of a team can be changed by adding one member or by one leaving. Our “clock” was built by the creator of time, every second is perfectly planned, and He has placed us all where He needs us to be for His plans to prosper. When you are having one of those “why me?” moments, focus on the Father. If He brings you to it, He’ll carry you through it.

This Christmas, may you feel the unwavering peace of Christ. Take time to soak in the traditions of the season. Savor time with family and friends. Embrace a quiet moment to remember the babe in a manager given to us to rescue and redeem. Remember your work is not in vain. Though this season is extra busy, keep perspective on the reason why you do what you do and the seeds of the gospel that are being planted/sown as you work behind the scenes. Though weary, rejoice with the thrill of hope of Jesus and eternal life with Him. Merry Christmas!

During this time of the year that we are supporting extra events like Sunday school Christmas parties, Christmas pageants, and Christmas services may you remember to slow down, step back, and remember that Christ came into this world for you. Don’t get lost in the busyness of the season; make sure to take some family time to enjoy the blessings of Christ’s birthday.

I would like to give everyone a heartfelt "Thank You" for being a part of our NACFM family. You all have blessed someone in this organization, and I pray we have blessed you as well.

May your Christmas and New Years be merry and bright,

As Facilities Manager, you are a guiding light.
Throughout the year, you’ve cared for God's space,
Kept it safe, sound, and in its rightful place.

With a watchful eye, you've managed it all,
From heating to cooling, and every maintenance call.
You've made God's space a comfortable place.

In the season of joy and gatherings nearby,
Your efforts are cherished and held oh so dear.
May your days be filled with warmth and delight,
And your work be smooth with no troubles in sight.

For every issue you've fixed and each task you've done,
You are appreciated by each and everyone.
This Christmas, Facilities Manager, we send our applause,
For the difference you make, for your unwavering cause.

May your holidays be festive, your spirit be high,
As you keep God's facilities under the winter sky.
Merry Christmas to you, and a Happy New Year,
From all of us here at NACFM!!!

The meaning of Christmas is understood in various ways, depending on one's perspective and beliefs. Here are a few of my key aspects of its meaning:

1. Religious Significance: For me, Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, believed to be the Son of God and the savior of humanity. It holds profound religious significance as a time to reflect on the story of Jesus' birth.

2. Generosity and Giving: Christmas embodies the spirit of generosity and giving. We exchange gifts as a way to show love and care for others, mirroring the concept of the Magi bringing gifts to the baby Jesus.

3. Family and Togetherness: It's a time to come together with family and loved ones, strengthening the bonds of love and togetherness, often marked by shared meals and gatherings.

4. Traditions: Christmas is rich in traditions such as decorating Christmas trees, hanging stockings, singing carols, and lighting Advent candles.

5. Hope and Renewal: As the year comes to a close, Christmas often represents a time of hope and renewal, as it marks the end of one year and the beginning of another.

Merry Christmas and I pray everyone has a blessed Christmas.
