NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF CHURCH FACILITIES MANAGERS  |  February 2021

MESSAGE FROM NACFM PRESIDENT GARY ROBINSON

This year’s national conference will be in Chicago, June 21 -24. One of the fun things the NACFM Board of Directors gets to do is choose a theme for the next annual conference. We look for themes relevant to our membership and with local ties to our host city.

While thinking of Chicago, we were reminded of the famous line from the movie The Blues Brothers, "We're on a mission from God." The movie is about a pair of Ne'er-do-well Chicago brothers trying to save the Catholic orphanage they grew up in from foreclosure. Every time they encountered an obstacle, and there were many, they would remind themselves that they were on a mission from God.

Talk about relevant! Every day the men and women of the National Association of Church Facility Managers wake up on a mission from God.

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” (1 Peter 4:10)

How many people can say they serve the Bride of Christ? Just like the Blues Brothers, we are focused, determined and unstoppable when it comes to the care and maintenance of our church facilities. Just as our members serve their local church, the NACFM is on a mission to equip our members for the unique care and management challenges they face through continuing education, leadership development and peer support. It was this mission that brought the NACFM Board together in Chicago last month to put the finishing touches on the 2021 National Conference.

The Excitement is building!

We are excited to share the lineup of speakers and activities with our membership. The speakers will inform and inspire you. There are activities for everyone, and as always, unlimited fellowship. The accommodations are first class. We have a great host in Frank Pollina at The Orchard Evangelical Free Church. The Expo Hall is filling up with vendors who are anxious to share their latest and greatest products and services.

Registration will open soon so keep checking the National Conference page on our website for the latest information. Chicago is an outstanding city with great food and much to see and do. We have arranged for our attendees to get the conference rate at the Embassy Suites starting three days before our conference and lasting for three days after the conference ends. If you've never been to Chicago, this would be a wonderful opportunity to make a vacation of it at a great price!

At this year’s conference, we will be electing our new Vice President. Let your voice be heard as we make this important decision. Celebrate with the FMs that are receiving their certification. Take the test for your certification if you haven’t already. This is a great opportunity to start life-long relationships. Can you feel the excitement? We hope to see you there!

Blessings my Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Gary Robinson
NACFM President
